Allison Bowman

OLATHE, KS

Allison Bowman is an acrylic and oil painter who focuses on abstracted botanical environments. As a Kansas native Bowman grew up in Manhattan, KS surrounded by the Flint Hills. From when she was a child, she remembers walking through the Konza Prairie discovering different species of plants. The natural forms made by native prairie life are what initially inspired her abstract compositions.
After graduating from Kansas State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Bowman moved with her husband to Olathe, KS, where she paints in her home studio. Along with being a practicing artist, Bowman also works as the Administrative Assistant for the Arts Council of Johnson County and teaches art classes at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center in Overland Park, KS. Recently Bowman has been painting on a larger scale and entering into the world of murals. You can see her part of the “Uniquely Rooted” mural at 47th St and Roe Ln in Roeland Park, KS. Another notable project that Bowman has been part of is the 2021 Art In the Loop project, where her artwork “Sacred Spaces” is displayed on the KC Streetcar Stop at 9th and Main in Kansas City, MO.
