My Hometown

“My Hometown” honors President Harry Truman and the history of his hometown of Independence, MO. Independence is where the expansion of the country to the west began. The Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails (Trails West) all originated in Independence. Visit Independence to see the ruts in the ground behind the Bingham-Waggoner home where the wagon trains literally lined up to begin their journeys. While you’re there, visit the Harry Truman Presidental Library.
