Before They Call Your Name
My Parade of Hearts design blends play and cosmic imagery to explore what remains after presence and biology. Deep blue and purple galaxies dotted with gummy worms surround looping rods with colorful beads that invite touch and movement. Phrases across the heart remind viewers that love and memory can outlast time, distance, and even death.

Artist Spotlight
Meranda McDermott
I am a Kansas City based artist working in sculpture, quilting, and public art, often blending unconventional materials like paper towels, found objects, and textiles into interactive and site-specific works. I earned my BFA in Sculpture from the Kansas City Art Institute, and my work is deeply rooted in community connection which takes shape through collaborative sewing projects, memorial quilts, and tactile installations that encourage play and contemplation. I am inspired by the hidden connections between people, the layered histories carried by everyday materials, and the ways art can spark dialogue, curiosity, and a sense of belonging.
