El Salvador In KC

The heart design is influenced by the unique style of El Salvadoran folk art. The front of the painting depicts El Salvador with its flowers, trees, fruit, and animals while the back side of the painting depicts Kansas City. The painting shows some well known sites in Kansas City like the Western Auto sign, a Nelson Atkins birdie, the Sheraton Hotel, the Bartle Hall pylons, Union Station, and the plaza clock tower all in the El Salvadoran folk art style. During these difficult times, I wanted to make this heart vibrant and full of life. I want this painting to be a beacon of hope for my fellow Hispanic people and that we must never forget where our roots come from. We must be proud of our cultures and remain strong against the oppressions we may face.
