Veterans Community Project is a Kansas City based nonprofit on a mission to end veteran homelessness. We have a village of 49 tiny houses at the intersection of 89th and Troost. It is the Home of Heros. I designed a heart that’s as big as the community that helped build this village. So, the mosaic will be completed by the veteran residents of the village, and volunteers and staff. The mirrored tiles of the KC will literally reflect back to the community that helped design and build a village and continues to serve those who served us just like the village. Every house on the mosaic heart will represent different branches of the military. The blue camouflage pattern of the sky and the green camouflage of the grass honors the brave men and women who live in the village. So as people are looking at this heart, I want them to feel that love that Kansas City has shown this organization and the veterans we serve. Also, I want them to feel proud that what they’ve created here in Kansas City is becoming a national model that will serve thousands.
