Artist Spotlight

Wendy L. Sohm
My personal obsession with ceramic arts drives me to create! Now that I am a recently retired 27 yr high school art educator, I look forward to long hours in my studio doing just that. Born and raised in Missouri north of the river, I have loved art as long as I can recall. Growing up in the country, I spent most of the time romping through fields, forests and creeks with my dog in search of unique nature treasures. It seems logical to me to combine my passion for ceramic arts with my love of nature. The past decade I have been using nature items with my ceramics, such as deer antlers, driftwood, reeds, etc. The addition of these items extra beauty and dimension to my unique altered ceramic pieces and have ended up creating a style uniquely my own. As an growing artist, I have participated in many juried exhibits both on the state and local level the past several years. I hope my work encourages folks to slow down and see the beauty that surrounds us each day.
