I Still Have A Dream

Multiple images of Martin Luther King Junior depicted on the front, and his most famous speech “I Have A Dream” handwritten on the back. This heart not only represents the path that MLK Jr. paved, but also how his words inspired and continue to inspire the generations that followed him.

Laila Monet

I am an artist local to the KC area, known for my watercolor paintings and digital art, although I do use many other materials as well. I was born and raised in Lee’s Summit Missouri, which is one of the main inspiration for a lot of my art. Growing up in a predominantly white area, I saw a lack of representation for people who looked like me, black culture is one of the main ideas in a lot of my art as it depicts not only black women, but also our influence on America.
