KC Soul

KC Soul is dedicated to the late Marva Whitney. She’s a soul icon from Kansas City, KS and was known for some awesome songs, like Unwind Yourself. And it’s my thing. She worked with James Brown, in the late sixties, early seventies. I don’t think a lot of people know she’s from Kansas City, KS. So, I wanted to create a heart that honors KC soul and the area of Kansas City, KS, where she’s from. Everybody talks about KC jazz, but Kansas City has got a lot of soul as well.
