View ArtistAbstract and impressionist elements to expand the perceptions of reality while still remaining grounded. All of my pieces begin with an acrylic wash and are painted using acrylic and an oil glazing to create the warm and cool depths in the image. Being in the middle of the United States limits interactions with the sea, so for the first design I decided to bring the sea to Kansas City. The image of the Hump Back Whale will reside on the “KC’ side while the Orca will be on the reverse. The two images will bridge across the sides of the heart with the red “beam” as the connecting element. I incorporated two flowers that are able to thrive in the Kansas summer heat; the Sunflower and Zinnias. These elements symbolize the connection between the land and sea and that we are all connected whether we realize it or not.
