Upcycled Flora Missouri State Flower, White Hawthorn
My design features the heart sculpture adorned with hand-painted flowers crafted entirely from recycled plastic bottles. Each bloom represents the native flower of Missouri, the White Hawthorn, celebrating the state’s natural beauty while highlighting environmental responsibility. The repurposed bottles, beneath the soft white, yellow, pink and green paint, give the piece a textured, 3D surface that speaks to renewal and creativity while being a tribute to the state of Missouri.

Katie Kramer
I’m a graphic designer by trade, but I find joy in expressing myself through all forms of art. For the past eight years, I’ve called Kansas City home, living in Briarcliff just north of the downtown skyline. As a senior designer at Hallmark, I’m surrounded daily by extraordinary talent, and the creativity of my colleagues constantly fuels my own. My work often begins with curiosity—pieces designed to spark conversation and leave viewers wondering what materials were used and how they came to life. I’m especially drawn to nontraditional mediums, transforming the unexpected into something beautiful. Lately, my inspiration has centered on themes of reuse, sustainability, and care for the world around us, weaving environmental consciousness into my creative process.
